The £20 note features the portrait of JMW Turner, an English Romantic painter famous for his landscapes and seascapes. The back of the note features a view of Turner’s painting “The Fighting Temeraire” with the sun setting behind it.

£50

The £50 note features the portrait of Alan Turing, a British mathematician and computer scientist who broke the Nazi Enigma code during World War II. The back of the note features a design of Turing’s “Universal Machine,” considered one of the first computer designs.

Polymer

All Bank of England notes are made of polymer, a thin, flexible, and durable plastic material. Polymer notes are more durable than traditional paper notes and can last up to 2.5 times longer.
